Manulife appoints Middle East sales chief based in London

Handshake1The asset management arm of Canada-based insurer Manulife has hired Othman Domiati as its head of sales and relationship management for the Middle East, based in the firm’s London office.

Domiati, who is Lebanese, previously worked for ECM Asset Management and Wells Fargo Asset Management, focusing on raising assets from Middle Eastern institutional investors. He helped to set up a capital markets business in the Middle East for Erste Bank of Austria and has worked for Merrill Lynch, ABN Amro and UBS in London.

“As we continue to build out our sales team for Europe and the Middle East, we are pleased to add someone of his calibre and expertise to our efforts,” said Marco Zanuso, Manulife Asset Management’s head of distribution for Europe, excluding the UK, and the Middle East.

At the end of 2015, Manulife Asset Management had $301 billion under management. The company’s parent, Manulife Financial, had $935 billion in assets under management and administration.

A statement from the firm says that Domiati, who holds a bachelor’s degree from the American University of Beirut and an MBA from Insead in France, speaks English, French, Italian, German and Arabic.
