Funds lawyer Sacks joins Dechert from King & Spalding

Handshake1Phillip Sacks, a lawyer specialising in investment funds, has joined law firm Dechert in Dubai as a partner in its financial services group. He was formerly a partner in the Dubai office of law firm King & Spalding. Sacks advises sovereign wealth funds and other investors on establishing, structuring and liquidating funds including private equity funds, real estate funds and hedge funds. He has experience of funds domiciled in the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, Australia and Bahrain. Sacks also advises on forming regulated asset management entities. Peter D Astleford, co-chair of Dechert's global financial services practice, said Sacks "has built up the best funds practice in the Gulf". Dechert's financial services practice includes about 180 lawyers in 16 offices around the world.
