Bamboo Capital Partners sells micro-finance firm

Bamboo Capital Partners, a private equity firm that makes responsible investments, has sold its holding in a micro-finance company that works mainly in the Middle East.

Vitas Group operates micro-finance institutions that support entrepreneurs, especially women, in Jordan, Lebanon, Romania and Palestine.

“Vitas has consistently delivered impressive and commercially sustainable results in some of the most challenging and under-penetrated markets in the world,” said Jean-Philippe de Schrevel, founder of Bamboo Capital Partners.

Bamboo Capital Partners did not reveal the sale price but said its six-year investment in Vitas Group had been profitable.

Since 2011, the loan portfolio of Vitas Group increased from $82 million to $247 million and its clients tripled to 112,000.
