Dubai Holding appoints new finance chief

Investment conglomerate Dubai Holding has recruited Sharjil Anwar as its new chief financial officer.

Anwar will be expected to take charge of the overall investment and financial planning strategy for the group as well as supporting its long-term growth objectives, said the company, which holds a $35 billion portfolio of assets including hotel group Jumeirah.

Formerly the group finance chief for Dubai-based property developer Nakheel, Anwar will take up his new role on June 3.

He replaces Amit Kaushal, who has been promoted to the role of chief executive in place of Edris Alrafi who was appointed in 2017.

According to Kaushal, the new appointee will bring “deep financial expertise and industry knowledge gained from highly successful years in the region”.

Prior to his time at Nakheel, Anwar, a certified public accountant and chartered global management accountant, assumed various senior roles at Siemens, Ernst and Young and Emaar.
