Bahrain-based Investcorp has added Mohamed El-Erian, a former chief executive of Pimco, to its advisory board.
The board, which meets once a year to provide guidance to the firm, includes Kofi Annan, a former United Nations secretary general, as well as several ex-politicians.
“While maintaining its Gulf roots, [Investcorp] has been transforming itself into a truly global alternative asset manager with an international client base,” said El-Erian.
El-Erian, who currently serves as chief economic adviser to Allianz, has held various roles in academia and the public sector. He has served as chairman to the Global Development Council, a US government initiative, and been deputy director of the International Monetary Fund
An Egyptian-American, El-Erian has degrees from both Oxford and Cambridge Universities and has written two New York Times bestsellers.
