Investcorp hires British MP as adviser

Bahrain-based alternative investment manager Investcorp has appointed Sir Michael Fallon, a British member of parliament and former cabinet minister, to its international advisory board.

Fallon served as secretary of state for defence between 2014-2017, as schools minister under Margaret Thatcher and John Major, and as business and energy minister under David Cameron.

Investcorp executive chairman Mohammed Alardhi welcomed Fallon’s appointment stating that “his business expertise and experience on both the private and public sector will be invaluable to continuing our growth trajectory”.

The British politician is no stranger to controversy. In October 2017 he resigned his cabinet position after being accused of inappropriate behaviour by a number of female journalists.

Fallon was criticised during his time as secretary of defence for attending a £450-a-head banquet for the arms trade in the middle of the war between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
