Iraq venture fund plans announced

A venture fund focused on Iraqi startups is set to launch in the country.

The Iraq Tech Ventures fund will be managed by a partnership between three veterans of Iraq’s startup venture capital market.

Iraq Venture Partners comprises Omar Al-Handal (The Station), Bassam Falah (Innovest ME, Ruwwad Al Iraq), and Mohammed Khudairi (Iraq Tech Ventures), who will serve as the fund’s general partners.

According to Khudairi, the timing is right for such a fund. “There are many talented Iraqi entrepreneurs in need of capital, with few sources of funding available to them,” he said.

“The fund will be a backbone for all the upcoming entrepreneurship opportunities in Iraq,” added Al-Handal. “We hope to shed more light on the distinctive startups that Iraq has to offer for potential investors.”
