Nasdaq Dubai to offer futures for major UAE indices

Investors on Nasdaq Dubai will soon be able to trade futures contracts on indices of the main Dubai and Abu Dhabi stock exchanges.

Futures contracts for the Dubai Financial Market general index and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange general index will join 13 single-stock futures already trading on the Nasdaq Dubai exchange.

Hamed Ali, chief executive of Nasdaq Dubai, said the introduction of index futures was “a significant step in the evolution of the UAE capital markets”.

“Index futures is a universal choice with market participants in an evolving derivatives marketplace and we believe this partnership will enable new opportunities for investors and lead to the development of UAE capital markets,” he said.

Earlier this month, Nasdaq Dubai revealed it would soon let participants trade futures on the MSCI UAE equity index.
