Quilter Cheviot gets licence upgrade for Dubai office

UK discretionary fund manager Quilter Cheviot has been awarded a category 4 licence for its Dubai office, enabling it to work more closely with advisor partners.

Since 2016 Quilter Cheviot has operated a representative office in Dubai, based in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

The licence upgrade will enable the firm to establish an on-the-ground presence and increase interaction with clients and advisors.

In addition, the Dubai Financial Services Authority also awarded Quilter Cheviot’s Dubai office with a retail endorsement, allowing it to service both professional and retail clients.

“Investors in the Middle East are now far more knowledgeable about their investments, and pleasingly many are opting for the services of a discretionary fund manager to help them meet their financial goals,” said Mark Leale, head of the Dubai office.

“To now be able to advise clients on their investments and work more closely with the financial adviser community will undoubtedly help us to build stronger relationships with them,” said Head of Quilter Cheviot’s Dubai Office, Mark Leale.

The Dubai office will continue to be manned by Leale and regional development manager Keith Owen who have both been there since it opened in April 2016. And despite the licence upgrade, the portfolios will continue to be managed by investment managers in Quilter Cheviot’s Jersey office.
