Swiss investment manager Unigestion has expanded its sales team with the appointment of Cyrille Urfer as head of sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) and institutional clients Middle East.
Urfer was previously head of global public markets at the Saudi-based Public Investment Fund (PIF), based in Riyadh.
During a career spanning 25 years, Urfer has also worked portfolio management roles at the Abu Dhabi Investment Council and Credit Suisse, among others.
Urfer will relocate to Geneva once he takes up his new role at Unigestion.
His appointment was described as a signal of Unigestion’s global growth ambitions and its commitment to the sovereign wealth funds and investors in the Mena region by head of business development Dominik Kremer.
“This sophisticated group of investors have unique and challenging needs of which Cyrille has first-hand experience in addressing, which will help us to increase our reach and strengthen relationships in the region,” he said.
